BLACK FRIDAY: The biggest sale on travel in 2023/2024

Although you might not immediately think of travel during Black Friday, numerous hotel platforms, airlines, and rail services are offering (others will start boasting about sales a bit later cause they all do the same) deep discounts to join the frenzy.

This opens the door to snag offers for a weekend getaway in New York, an ocean-facing suite in Mexico with direct pool access, or slow-pace holiday in Western Europe. So rather than adding another speaker or stocking up on socks, consider investing in memorable experiences to jumpstart 2024.

British Aiways. While British Airways hasn't unveiled their official Black Friday deals yet, past offers have featured round-trip flights to New York starting at $260, and three-day trips to the Big Apple for just $489 per person. High-end vacation packages from them have seen discounts up to $369. They've also provided tiered savings on flight and hotel bundles, including $30 off a flight and car package valued over $799. Historically, they've offered direct round-trip fares to places like Japan for under $615, Costa Rica at $492, and Bermuda at $553. This is certainly a deal page worth refreshing constantly. Eurostar. While the previous Black Friday didn't dazzle with discounted train fares from London to Europe, Eurostar has historically offered seats for as low as $30. And I'm patiently waiting for similar sale this year. However, there's no official word on this year's deals yet, so it's a wait-and-see situation. Follow deals. 

Trainline. During Black Friday 2021, Trainline had an intriguing offer: a significant 50% discount on railcards, which provided users with a third off on mainline rail trips. What made this even more attractive was the option to pair some of these railcards with an Oyster card, granting reductions on Tube and TFL journeys. However, this promotion was concluded earlier than anticipated, leading to some feedback from customers. In response, the subsequent year's deal offered a $18 discount on the next ticket purchase for those who acquired a railcard over the Black Friday weekend. Official site of Trainline → here. 

Secret Escapes. The luxury travel aficionados at Secret Escapes have kept their Black Friday deals under wraps for now, but anticipate discounts on spa experiences, premium hotels, and all-inclusive packages. Previously, they featured attractive deals close to London. For instance, they offered nearly half-off at Hartwell House and Spa in Buckinghamshire, and an enticing 45% discount at Champneys Forest Mere in the South Downs. Additionally, the charming Tudor Farmhouse in the Forest of Dean was available at a 40% markdown. So it’s kinda a deal to wait for. On the other hand, with RatePunk browser extension or RatePunk Premium you may also get the similar or even the better deal on luxurious hotels/villas/apartments.

Mr & Mrs Smith. To access the Black Friday deals from Mr & Mrs Smith, membership is a prerequisite. However, the range of offers available is extensive, with some valid for stays extending into the next summer season. Enjoy a 20% discount at Dar One in Marrakech or the same percentage off for a minimum of three nights at Ingleside Estate in Palm Springs, Florida. Venture further to receive 15% off at Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba in Peru's Sacred Valley of the Incas. There's also a 20% cut at Nomad on the picturesque Greek island of Mykonos. A standout offer: The Standard in the Maldives is giving a generous 30% discount, complemented by breakfast, dinner, and a $50 spa voucher.

Booking.com. If you're looking to snag a Black Friday deal on Booking.com, you might come across the initial instruction, "Log in to the extranet." Don't be deterred by this term. The booking period spans from 16 to 29 November, allowing reservations for stays until 31 December 2024. While not every listing on Booking.com participates in the Black Friday Deal, those that have in the past typically offer discounts starting at 30%. Just be sure that they havent increased the hotel rates before they announced this sale; check our experiment results of all Booking’s shady tactics.

Sandals and Beaches. Sandals and Beaches, renowned for their all-inclusive getaways, have announced their “Gift of Blue” Black Friday event. From November 13 to December 21, discounts are available at select resorts when using the promo code GOB2023, offering up to $750 off on flights and $250 for resort amenities. Participating locations include Sandals Dunn’s River in Jamaica, Sandals Royal Curacao, and the soon-to-open Sandals Saint Vincent, set for March 2024. Sandals caters to adults, while Beaches is perfect for families. Additionally, bookings made during the Thanksgiving to Giving Tuesday window will see $50 go to ocean conservation.

Extra Holidays. Extra Holidays' largest sale is happening this month, with up to 30% off on resorts like Club Wyndham and Vacation Club by Wyndham across U.S. locations such as Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Orlando. Throughout November, new deals will be unveiled each week, so it's wise to monitor their latest promotions. Discounts also extend beyond the U.S., with opportunities to save on resorts in St. Thomas and up to 20% off at select international resorts, including those in Australia and New Zealand, available through Cyber Monday.

The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio. Planning a springtime escape to a sunny destination? Consider the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, which is offering a 30% discount on all rooms for bookings made from November 24 to November 27, applicable for stays from November 38 (please note, November has only 30 days, so this may be an error) to March 31, 2024. With its fresh renovation, prime riverwalk location, and proximity to the Pearl District and the historic Alamo, it's an attractive choice for a Texas vacation.
