Dune 2 Filming Locations: Where You Should Travel
The eagerly anticipated sequel to Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" promises to be a visual masterpiece, just like its predecessor. "Dune: Part Two" not only continues the epic saga of Paul Atreides and the battle for control of the desert planet Arrakis but also showcases a variety of stunning locations across the globe
Tomorrow will be a huge day for all Dune fans - finally, we'll see the second part of this sequence. And just for a few minutes, let me be a wizard by foretelling what will happen. Many people will be mesmerized by the movie and google most locations to visit it. So… Here's a guide to the must-visit filming locations for "Dune: Part Two."
Budapest, Hungary
When you see Budapest on the list, you may be intrigued by it. Why and what kind of scene did they film there? Saunas or massive buildings cause most of the movie to set up for desert landscapes… The thing is that the Origo Film Studios in Budapest served as a central hub for the "Dune: Part Two." Many marvelous scenes were filmed there.
Possibly, the studios themselves may not be open for tours. No worries; Budapest's rich history, architecture, and culture make it a worthwhile destination. The city's blend of Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau buildings is like stepping into another world. Plus, Budapest is one of the most affordable destinations to visit.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Some scenes of the first part were filmed in Abu Dhabi, and “Dune: Part Two” returns as a key location, offering its vast, rolling dunes as the perfect backdrop for Arrakis. The deserts here, particularly the Liwa Oasis, provide an otherworldly setting that brings the harsh beauty of the sand planet to life. Visitors can explore the desert on a safari, experience the thrill of dune bashing, or simply enjoy the serene beauty of the landscape at sunset.
P.S. Here’s the link to the best hotels in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. You know, in case you want to see the savage- untouched beauty of the desert.
Stadlandet, Norway
Arrakis isn't the only unforgettable world of the "Dune" universe. The chilly, striking scenery of Caladan, the ancestral home of House Atreides, was brought to life in Stadlandet, Norway. Even though it is not mentioned in IMDB, I simply want to believe we will see this location in "Dune: Part Two." The dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and serene fjords of the region capture the stark beauty of Caladan. Hiking trails and boat tours allow visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning natural beauty.
The Wadi Rum Valley, Jordan
The Wadi Rum valley in Jordan isn't new to the spotlight, having hosted numerous Hollywood blockbusters ("The Martian," Mission to Mars," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, "Prometheus," Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," and many others.) The iconic Wadi Rum valley continues to play a pivotal role in bringing the desert planet of Arrakis to life. Known as the Valley of the Moon, Wadi Rum's red sands and towering rock formations have captivated filmmakers and soon more tourists.
Activities to Do: stay in Bedouin camps, explore ancient petroglyphs, and marvel at the same landscapes that serve as the backdrop for the epic "Dune" movie scenes.
P.S. Jordan is truly beautiful country, worth exploring more!
Italy: Memoriale Brion, Altivole, Treviso
Italy makes it a new and exciting addition to the "Dune" universe. While specific locations within Italy have yet to be disclosed, some Italian cities are already uncovered: Altivore & Treviso but nothing more. Personally, I’m super excited to see the movie and simply updating this blogpost.
Visiting these locations or at least one of them offers more than just a glimpse behind the scenes of a blockbuster film; it's an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of your favorite characters and experience the diverse beauty of our own planet. Whether you're trekking through the deserts of Abu Dhabi or exploring the Wadi Rum Valley, each destination offers a unique adventure that mirrors the epic journey of "Dune: Part Two."
