#1 The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met)

"The Met" is one of the largest and most comprehensive art museums in the world. It is located in New York City on the eastern edge of Central Park. The museum has over 2 million works of art spanning 5,000 years of world culture, from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary art.

The Met’s collection is organized into several curatorial departments, including American Decorative Arts, European Paintings, Greek and Roman Art, Islamic Art, and Modern and Contemporary Art. Some of the most famous pieces in the collection include mesmerizing Vincent van Gogh's "Starry Night," Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring," and the Temple of Dendur, an ancient Egyptian temple that was reconstructed within the museum.

The museum also has several special exhibitions throughout the year which showcases artworks from different cultures and time period. It also features The Costume Institute which has a collection of more than 35,000 costumes and accessories from around the world, including pieces by designers such as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Alexander McQueen. 

Opening hours:  The Metropolitan Museum of Art is open on Sunday-Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, but on Friday and Saturday, it is open until 9:00 pm. The museum is closed on Wednesday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. 

Price: General admission ticket costs for tourists: $30 for adults; $22 for seniors; $17 for students. However, for any New York State residents as well as New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut students, the admission fee is pay-as-you-wish, meaning New York residents can pay what they want to enter the museum.

# 2 The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

This museum is a must-see for anyone interested in modern and contemporary art. In other words we can call it a pure art-lovers attraction in New York. It has a vast collection of more than 200000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, architecture, and designs including some of the most famous artists of the 20th century such as Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dalí, and Jackson Pollock.

Founded in 1929, it is one of the oldest and most influential museums of its kind in the world. MoMA’s collection is divided into several departments, including Architecture and Design, Drawings and Prints, Film, Painting and Sculpture, and Photography. The museum's permanent collection is always on view, but it also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year which showcase works from emerging and established artists. At the moment guests can visit special exhibitions of Meret Oppenheim, Refik Anadol, Linda Goode Bryant's works, and more. 

Opening Hours: The museum is open seven days a week, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, but on Saturday it is open until 7:00 pm.

#3 The Guggenheim Museum

Let’s learn about one more modern art museum that offers a one-of-a-kind art viewing experience to all visitors. The Guggenheim Museum is a world-renowned museum located in New York City, dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The museum is famous for its unique spiral design, created by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The building was completed in 1959 and has become an iconic landmark in New York City.

The Guggenheim hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and tours, which offer visitors the chance to learn more about the art on view and the building's architecture.

Opening Hours: Wednesday - Monday 10:30 am - 6 pm, but on Friday it is open till 10 pm. The museum is closed on Tuesdays.

#5 The Brooklyn Museum

It is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. The museum's collection comprises over 1.5 million works of art, spanning 5,000 years of world culture, from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary art. Can you imagine that?  The collection features works by artists from around the world, including ancient Egypt, Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

The Brooklyn museum's collection is divided into several curatorial departments, including Ancient Egyptian, Classical, and Ancient Near Eastern Art, Arts of Africa, the Americas and the Pacific, Asian Art, and European Art. The museum's permanent collection is always on view, but it also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year which showcase works from emerging and established artists from around the world. The recent exhibitions feature Jimmy DeSana, Virgil Abloh, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Berthe Morissot, and many more artists' works. 

Opening Hours: Wednesday-Sunday 11 am- 6 pm, the museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday. On the first month's Saturday museum opes 5 pm - 11 pm

#6 The Frick Collection

The Frick Collection is an art museum located in the elegant Henry Clay Frick House on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. The museum's collection includes works by major European artists from the 13th to the 19th century, including paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and furniture. It is considered one of the finest small art museums in the United States and is open to the public for tours and special exhibitions. It is also a research center and reference library for art historians and scholars.

#7 The International Center of Photography (The ICP)

It is the world’s leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. The ICP was founded in 1974 by photographer Berenice Abbott and is located in the Midtown neighborhood of Manhattan. The museum's collection includes works by renowned photographers such as Diane Arbus, Walker Evans, and Robert Frank, as well as contemporary artists. The ICP also offers a wide range of educational programs, including workshops, lectures, and classes to full-time certificate programs for students of all levels. The school is also a leading center for photographic research and scholarship. So if you will be charmed by the beautiful galleries of the museum, you can always enroll in one of its programs. 

Opening Hours: Wednesday-Monday 11 am- 7 pm, but on Thursday it works till 9 pm.  The museum is closed on Tuesdays.
