This is not a four-star hotel, and it doesn’t have any of the standards of a chain. It’s a two-star hotel with a very good breakfast. From the moment we entered the small lobby cleanliness seemed an issue and once we got to the rooms it got worse. The bathtub drain was clogged, the ac controls in the room is just an on or off switch (we were freezing) so one cannot set the temperature. The doors are composite wood and swollen from humidity. There are no cabinets and the towel handle was missing. We were switched to another room that was a bit less claustrophobic and asked the maid to give the floor an extra mopping, which she did. The nespresso machine was missing in the first room and we then found out it wasn’t complementary. One of the pods was in fact used and just left in the box. No towel hooks in the bathroom. The elevators are close to the doors so we woke up all night with guests returning to their rooms. Non-existent sound-proofing. There is a fake leather foot rest in the rooms that had foot prints. My husband and I used to stay in Hotel Plaza Francia before the Braun family and Esplendor took over, although outdated it was clean and unpretentious. At checkout, they miscalculated the total because we paid cash and we were not given a list of itemised charges. We had to request it several times. Shame this hotel went so downhill it has a very good location.
