Sydney Mantra is a nice comfortable and modern hotel which has a fantastic location next door to Chinatown. The location was the main reason I chose to stay here as it's only a 2 mins walk away and since I was travelling with my parents, it makes it easier to get to local food places. The room was very spacious and bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was clean and quite large. The only quirk of the hotel is that if you want to get a change of towels, then you need to leave it outside your room door in the corridor prior to 3pm for cleaning service to take it. I think this is weird. There is no sign to hang on the door handle for "Please make up room" as is ordinary in every other hotel I have stayed in. So my suggestion to hotel management is to bring something like that in as it is industry standard. For clarity, there was a sign that you could hang on the door handle for "Do not disturb". Normally, the reverse side of this sign would say "Please make up room", but it just said the same thing on both sides. The staff at reception were excellent and assisted greatly with check in and check out smoothly as well as storage of bags both prior to check in and after check out. Very helpful and good customer service. My only downside is the price. This is not a criticism of this hotel in particular because the price was reasonable given the average pricing for the Sydney CBD area. However, considering value for money in other markets such as overseas, there is no comparison there. Australian hotels are quite expensive. Overall, I am happy with my stay and would stay here again if I was not travelling solo.
