First time to Barbados staying at the Sugar Cane Club which we choose because it was adults only. On arrival we were greeted with a drink and cold towel, much appreciated after a long journey. We had a garden view suite which overlooked the gully, which was adequately furnished with a very comfortable bed. The shower was big but took ages to warm up. |The cleaners do an excellent job and are very pleasant. We were aware that the resort was not on the beach and that a shuttle service was in place, although we would have liked it to be more frequent, it was what it was. On researching Tripadvisor before our visit I had read that picnic lunches and drinks were available as part of AI if you were going to the beach for the day, but when requested we were told that only drinks were available and if you did want a picnic lunch it would be ten dollars. ||The food was a la carte and highly seasoned, when we requested no seasoning it made no difference and still arrived seasoned, one of us often left feeling hungry as a result of this. The same two menus were alternated and became a bit monotonous. The service was poor, or slow, any deviations from the menu requested, ie no gravy, were not followed, these instances happened regularly and not just one off as this happened almost daily it became quite annoying. Requests for drinks, coffee, beer were taken, often by several waiting staff and never materialised. Staff generally were a bit unpredictable, sometimes happy and welcoming other times quite surly and definitely had favourites. ||Recommendations - Gully walk, Sand Street Bistro walk to Heywoods/Almond beach, also Holetown beach and if you are adventurous take a ride on the Reggae Bus||In conclusion - We did enjoy Barbados - Sugar Cane Club is a beautiful resort, seeing a Father Christmas when its 28 degrees was different!||
Just returned from a 2 week stay. Our 4th at this hotel, although we hadn't been for 7 years. The hotel is still as lovely as ever. It is quiet, but if you want nightlife, just go to speightown or holetown as we did a couple of nights. The entertainment is low-key and relaxed. |The hotel is kept immaculate from rooms to grounds and the pool. Sunbeds are available in abundance, and we had 4 beach towels most of the time, which were changed most days. The glass bottom boat trip was a bonus, which we enjoyed. The only improvement that could be made would be to the supposedly beach club it's not on the best beach, and it's all a bit of a letdown when you are dropped there from the hotel. ||Food at the hotel was excellent, all freshly cooked, so occasionally you had a bit of a| wait, if they were busy but nothing too much. Staff all lovely and try to accommodate most requests. |
