This hotel is an absolute gem. I booked the same day I needed a stay on a whim & was greeted with impeccable design and immaculate customer service. I’m from America, and unfortunately do not speak Portuguese but every single staff member at the front does. We’ve had the most wonderful and eye opening conversations. The culture of Salvador is so rich I wanted to take it all in. Thankfully Gabrielle was able to answer many of my questions, as well as enlighten me on Salvador & Brazil’s culture! The complimentary breakfast is THE BEST! With natural fruit juices, fruit, breads, jams, eggs, and a variety of other delicacies. All covered when not being served since the doors to the towns city are open. The room, while quaint, is all the space I needed as a solo traveler. The building this hotel is in is a 200+ year old building & you feel the history as you walk the halls. Plus you can book a massage, sauna, or spa experience! There are a number of tours also! This place is heaven. If you’re looking for a sign to book, THIS IS IT!
Where do I start….neighborhood is super dangerous at night. Lots of homeless people around. Don’t walk after dark. We had booked a room for 3 people, arrived at the hotel, and they said they had overbooked themselves so there was no more rooms for 3 people, only double rooms and 2 single beds rooms. Got a bit mad because it was late and not really my problem if they had overbooked themselves. The receptionist nicely gave us 2 bedrooms. At 1am, they came back to us saying they had made a mistake about giving us to bedrooms. So we had to pay or change rooms. They blocked our ways to the bedrooms. Finally, they let us have the 2 bedrooms. Next day, for checkout, they call the police and stop our taxi from leaving to intimidate us to pay. We unfortunately did.. Would not recommend the place, or the neighborhood as a whole. It’s super touristic and the service is not good.
