This is a difficult review to write, but I feel compelled to share a significant and unfortunate detail of this hotel.||I will begin with the positives, and there are many. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with gorgeous finishes and décor, both in the lobby area and the rooms. Every area of the building is impeccably clean and all of the employees are delightfully courteous and professional. The lobby and breakfast section have a truly wonderful ambiance which is particularly amplified in the winter, when one can sit for breakfast or relax in the evening with a drink and enjoy watching people skate on the oval ice rink just outside the window. What a beautiful and romantic experience. ||||Unfortunately, we also experienced two unfortunate aspects during our stay. The first was the lack of, or non-existent television programming. The hotel TV does not have local cable - instead, their programming is streamed via the internet of some sort. It took us a while (and a very prompt) visit from the concierge to show us how to access regular "cable channels", but even when we did attempt to select and watch any channel, the image was pixeled (broken) at best, then not coming in at all, and had no sound. This was not a deal-breaker, but more of an inconvenience. The huge let down was when we soon noticed how noisy the rooms were. Not just normal "hotel" noise, but absolutely ridiculous and eye-opening noise! First, we heard the noise of the window blinds being opened or closed from the room either below or above us. Not too surprising, as noise could easily travel along glass and metal. But then we could hear voices and talking - not coming from under the door to the hallway, but from the room either below or above us. We heard everything - talking, laughing, and music. But the final and shocking straw was when we heard, and FELT other guests walking in their room! Literally, we could hear every footstep and feel the ceiling and walls vibrate - as if we were in a residential house!||Wow - this was totally unacceptable, and quite sad, honestly. It is ironic that hotels entice guests and promote comfortable accommodations - and beds, so they can enjoy a good nights sleep, when at this hotel, a good nights sleep (or even a quiet, relaxing room) is virtually impossible.||||We have stayed at hotels in downtown Quebec City, right on a busy street, where we heard no noise at all. It became clear to us that this beautiful and new hotel must have been built from timber instead
