The lobby is large and nice decorated. Plenty of seating areas. Nice welcome to the hotel but the staff. The hotel has a medical clinical and oxygen room for people who need assistance with the altitude. There is a large, beautiful lap pool with a life guard on duty at times. The rooms are large and nicely decorated. The cleanliness could be better. There are universal outlets by the bed (both sides) and table (no desk). Mini-fridge, bottled water. The buffet breakfast and dinner have been disappointing. Food is decent but not exceptional. Service is somewhat indifferent.
We stayed in the Shangri-La in Lhasa for 3 nights recently and had a wonderful time. The hotel décor was beautiful and captured the culture and history of Tibet. The food was wonderful, and being originally from Singapore, my family and I enjoyed the delicious Southeast Asian cuisine that was being showcased during our visit. The rooms were comfortable and luxurious and the service was prompt and professional. We also enjoyed the spontaneous Tibetan dancing that the staff members did in the lobby one morning - it's a testament to how dedicated the hotel administration and staff are to the local culture.
