One thing ahead: If I had to pay for the stay (4 nights) myself, I would have changed the hotel. Way too many things were completely out of order. We (a colleague and I) were booked into this hotel by a company we work for. First things first: My colleague and I arrived very late on a Sunday, the reception closes at 3 or 3:30 pm. Knewing that, we asked for an alternative prior arrival. Worked: Keys were placed inside the lobby. The rooms are okay regarding size, but one thing directly came up: The close proximity to the roads. One small town road directly in front of my room (room door directly leads outside, like in cheap American Motels) and one main road approx. 150m away, where traffic is present around the clock. A good thing ahead are the beds. They are quite big and have three pillows to chose from. Next morning breakfast. Quite little to choose from, the scrambled egg was in a pot with a very heavy lid; putting it on the plate was impossible without putting the plate somewhere. But there was just little room, luckily noone else was having breakfast the same time we had that day. Returning from work at lunchtime, we were eager and hungry to get something to eat in our hotel. But no luck there, we had to order lunch a day before, else there would be no lunch at all. We went to town, eating something there. In the evening, we then were eager to get dinner. A waiter asked if we would like to have the dinner of the day. I asked what it would be and what alternatives they have. He responded, that there would be no alternatives. Quite shocked, we ordered it. Literally 5 minutes later, we got our "dinner". Meatloaf with potatoes and dark sauce with lots of herbs. The potatoes were cooked long before and regarding the meatloaf, well, it was what it is. Nothing special. But we ordered lunch for the next two days. Let's skip ahead, we canceled the second. It was pork filled (quite okay) with the exact same sauce from the dinner the day before and a big plate with lots of stuff, ham, cheese, bread, cake (the one thing that tasted very well). Of course we had lunch and dinner outside every other day. In the night you can hear others showering like standing in their shower next to them. But that was okay, knowing the farmers start harvesting before 7am. The nightmare was the bathroom. I don't know where to start; there was no space to things, neither in the bathroom, nor in the shower, the sink's plug was not working and always down, meaning water would not leave, the shower was behind these ugly curtains, no heavy weight pretended it from sticking to someone's body. Much mold in every corner and the "great" working shower border (pictures) - after a 10 minute shower my whole bathroom was flooded. Remains of prior residents (pictures...) and "art" next to the toilet completed my expedition to the youth hostel. A 3 star hotel is definitely defined by other values. Sorry, but this is barely even a 1 star hotel with good intentions. After fixing all problems it may become a 2 star hotel. Worst thing: Trying to calm myself that my company pays this trip (120€ / Person/ night + 100€ only for the food for two people...) , we were outside the hotel having a beer and something to eat, one employee made us aware that this would be forbidden. We took our stuff to the front of the hotel, continuing our break, ignoring if being disturbed again. I was pretty upset. Making things short: Lower prices to 50-60€ the night and making it a youth hostel, it can be OK. Or fix all the major problems, better insulation of the rooms, general modernization and more food to choose from and it will be okay to go with 2 stars. P. S. They do have two pool tables. Although we had to pick the best of each one to be able to play, the coes were partly broken, as well as the tables itself. Luckily, the hotel seemed to have recognized that as well, as playing was for free. Lucky us.
