I had high hopes for this hotel, since the description and photos were quite promising. Unfortunately, I was disappointed for several reasons. When we arrived, we couldn't figure out where the entrance was to the hotel (I'm not stupid and I've stayed at 100+ different Marriott properties). Had to ask a staff member in the patio dining room and he showed us a back entrance to the elevator. The actual front entrance is stairs only, so very hard with luggage.||Second problem we encountered was we were told that this wasn't really a Marriott property, so we wouldn't get the benefit of a free breakfast or food credits that come with elite status. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was an expectation of receiving the Marriott benefits...and this is not an inexpensive hotel. So had to spend an additional 22 euros per person for breakfast. Note to Marriott management: Need to properly disclose this on the reservation website.||Third problem (and biggest), the room was very noisy. Probably the noisiest hotel in Europe I've experienced. Our room was in the newer part of the hotel. The outside wall was floor to ceiling glass, which does nothing to diminish sound waves from the outside. The area of the hotel has numerous bars and restaurant and Spaniards love to party throughout the night. We heard party revelers until 4am in the morning. Did not have a good night sleep.||The architecture of our hotel room was very modern...all glass. The bathroom is a frosted glass cube and privacy to the rest of the room is not ideal. The room is all hard surfaces, so the sound waves from the outside reverberate throughout the room. Additionally, the room safe never worked.||OK, let me end with some positives:|* Central Location|* Great breakfast buffet, great staff in restaurant|* Staff are friendly and helpful|* Wonderful bath/shower room with huge bathtub|* Beautiful grounds and historic building||Because of the noise, I would not stay here again or recommend to anyone who is noise sensitive.
Gorgeous hotel! The staff were very welcoming and kind. And you absolutely can’t beat the location. We were able to walk so many places. The one thing I would recommend is for the staff to check with what kind of experiences the guest wants before giving recommendations. We were hungry and looking for food and they made a reservation at a lovely restaurant but we were looking for something with a little more energy. I also regret that we didn’t check out the spa but we were too busy enjoying alllll of Granada.
