High up in the Alpujarra mountains, in the tiny village of Mecina Fondales this charmingly unique & family run hotel is beautifully adorned with lovely fresh flowers, pot plants 🪴 & is peppered with exotic Moorish features. Numerous paintings of the Alpujarra region were hung throughout all of which add to the unique feel of the hotel. So so different from the standard chain hotels |Out lovely room, with a balcony overlooking the pool &fragrant gardens was immaculately clean , the bathroom was spacious & our beds & pillows really comfortable. It had a very useful fridge too. |We would stay here for a whole month every year if we could. This hotel has soul! |Many thanks, |Caroline A.M. Clarke|
We loved our stay at the Hotel de Mecina over Xmas 2022. As it was low season we were one of only 2 occupied rooms in the hotel but Victor was the perfect host, generous with his time and advice, ensuring that we had meal options available to us. The rooms are clean and spacious and ours had a lovely balcony that caught the winter sun. The hotel is full of character and provides an immersive experience in the Sierra Nevada. If you’re hikers it’s worth checking out the 10-12k loop from Fondales along the medieval trails for a good half day out (you can find it on the AllTrails app) - but be prepared for some significant up and down hills !
