I recently stayed at the Marriott Bonvoy Hotel in Athens, and while the facilities and dining options left a positive impression, the overall experience was marred by subpar service. Let's start with the positives. The facilities at this hotel are undoubtedly well taken care of. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the common areas are beautifully maintained. The on-site restaurant offers a good selection of dishes, and the quality of food is generally commendable. It's a place where you can enjoy a satisfying meal without having to venture far from your room. However, my stay was overshadowed by the disappointing service, particularly at the front desk. As a seasoned traveler, I've encountered a variety of front desk experiences, but the service here left much to be desired. The front desk personnel seemed slow in attending to guests, often leaving lines of people waiting while they appeared engrossed in seemingly unrelated tasks, like chatting on the phone or checking documents. This lack of attentiveness and efficiency was frustrating, especially after a long journey. One standout instance of poor service was my encounter with an individual named Joseph, stationed at the entrance of the restaurant. I requested to leave my luggage briefly while I walked just 30 seconds away to inform my business colleagues of my arrival. Unfortunately, Joseph denied my simple request. It's the little things like this that can significantly impact a guest's overall experience and impression of a hotel.
