We visit Budapest a couple of times a year. We always stay in the Grand Hotel, often with extended family, we love it so much. It’s connected with the Thermal Hotel under ground, so you can use exactly the same facilities. The grand Hotel is an old, beautifully restored and elegant place to stay - if you want more modern, the Thermal hotel might be better suited for you. |The Grand hotel has an amazing breakfast offering, beautiful traditional rooms with high ceiling. Margaret island is a gem itself. Whatever you are up to in Budapest, this is a very central location with easy access to everything by taxi, or walk/public transport.|Tip: try out the massage, and salt room.

This was something of a "staycation" for me as I live in Budapest so the Hotel was about 30 minutes travel time for me. That said, I loved my stay. The room and service were excellent. As I chose half board, I received both breakfast buffet and dinner buffet and there are absolutely no complaints there. The use of the thermal baths and the sauna and steam room was wonderful. The spa area is beautiful. As to Margaret Island, itself. I've been there many times in warmer weather and being there in the winter was magical. Very view visitors to the island so no crowds to contend with and it is still beautiful in the winter. One evening I went to Lumina Park for the light exhibit and it was, hands down, the best visual experience I have ever had. If you get the chance...see it! Just remember to dress warmly.
