If you are looking for a fine dining experience that doesn’t disappoint….this is the place. It’s just so opulent, and warm and welcoming, and the staff check all the boxes. I had the onion veloute to start which was unsurprisingly outstanding, followed by the beef, which was slow braised and served inside a buttery, flaky pastry. One tine thing, it would have been nice to have an accompanying jus or gravy…it would have sent the dish into orbit. I finished with an Irish coffee…and my wife had the most elegant chocolate desert. Not only will I be back, but I’m going to take a course…simply fab.

My husband and I treated ourselves to dinner bed and breakfast in Dunbrody County House Hotel for our wedding anniversary. It was wonderful. It is a beautiful house, lovingly maintained in a manner sympathetic to its original style. The owner, Catherine, greeted us on arrival and was the epitome of Irish hospitality. The staff were friendly, courteous and chatty. Our room on the second floor was airy and spacious with views over the extensive gardens. As for the food! Dinner was a culinary treat. Great food, locally sourced and beautifully presented. Delicious. We had drinks on the terrace before and after dinner. A lovely covered area just outside the bar, with a delightful fountain and gorgeous, scented, standard rose trees. Breakfast the next morning was delightful. Our table overlooked the garden, the food was cooked to order and the staff could not have been more friendly. Dunbrody Country House is a calm, relaxing, luxury retreat on the Hook peninsula and I would highly recommend it.
