B&B Hotel Palermo Quattro Canti

I found this hotel on-line and the price was very fair. We splurged in some other places we visited, and knew we would not be at the hotel very much in Palermo, so opted for location versus glamour. ||First, check in was very easy. The lobby is nice, bright and welcoming and the clerks spoke English and were friendly and helpful. However, we ended up in the older part of the hotel, on the 4th floor, and I remembered a review that mentioned that these rooms were under the restaurant and it could get loud at night. We immediately went downstairs and were given another room on the 1st floor and they were very nice about it.||The rooms are not as chic as they look in the photos...they are a little tired, and the grout in the bathroom is stained because the windows are quite old and I think water seeps in, but regardless, it felt clean. The bathroom is spacious, and there is a closet and a desk. I guess the worst part of the room was the lack of natural light, the window opened to the wall of the the neighboring abandoned building. However the bed was very comfortable, which is great at the end of a long day of walking!||The best, best thing about this hotel is its location. For one, it is right across from a taxi stand which was very helpful on the day we left and needed to drag our suitcases to the train station. Secondly, I found the Quattro Canti area to be amazingly beautiful and historic. The Fontana Pretoria is directly across the street along with several historic churches. The hotel was central to everywhere we walked, whether it was down to the port, over to the Teatro Massimo, or up to the Norman Palace. I have seen reviews (of the area, not the hotel) which say this area is dirty and filled with trash. We did not see that at all. On the contrary, it was a wonderful location.||The second best thing about this hotel was it's rooftop bar. Amazing! We had a nightcap here every night. The bar has ample space and lots of places to sit. It was just lively enough, without being rowdy. The bartenders were attentive and nice. The view of Palermo at night is a sight to behold.||The third best thing about the hotel was the price. It was a fraction of the cost of the hotels we stayed at in Sorrento and Taormina. I would recommend staying here, and would definitely stay here on my next visit to beautiful Palermo!
