This was an amazingly lucky find by us! Positano is stairs steps stairs steps and a lot of walking so if your hotel is high up, you may get great views but you'll be walking for half hour before you can get to the beach/port (if you're going to Capri). I think location is a key factor when choosing a hotel in Positano cause we saw a lot of people struggling up with heavy luggages for 300 steps and it's not fun in 26 degrees heat. Choose a hotel which offers shuttle service or a hotel by a road or a hotel which has a deal with a carpark and only about half way up the cliffs so it's manageable to walk it. Hotels are very exxy here, as expected, so do your research and book ahead early. Palazzo Talamo is the perfect choice due to this reason, there's a road next to it but they also have a discounted secure parking option and also half way up so you have beach/water/Positano views but don't have to suffer through too many steps. Be warned you will have steps to contend but that's all of Positano so it's not for the faint hearted. Hotel was amazing because it had great facilities, amazing views and most importantly a perfect location. It's even right next to 3 very popular restaurants offering the best views in Positano. We looked for ages when finding this place but will not need to research again next time, will always be coming back here in future visits.
