Hotel Parco della Rocca

This hotel was our base when staying on the South coast of Sicily. It was an average hotel in most aspects. The location was a little "out of the way", in a quiet area where activities were scarce.||Whilst the hotel was clean and comfortable, the bedroom and dining room were dated and in need of freshening up.||The television in the room was of no benefit as it was too small, old-fashioned and with no English channels, no tea-making facilities were in the room either. The bathroom had no bath, just a shower. The balcony area was in need of repainting and new outdoor furniture. The foyer/entrance was poor. Nobody was available or equipped to advise on activities, tours or dining out.||On the plus side, the swimming pool area was terrific, with ample space and privacy to unwind. The chef tried hard to come up with menus suitable for non-Italians, although the evening meals were expensive for very plain food. The cheese omelettes, especially made for my own breakfasts were superb, and we were offered the odd complementary cappuccino, which was much appreciated.||Whilst we thoroughly appreciated the efforts of the staff, I feel that the four star rating was probably one star too many.
