Old but has all the comforts of a good hotel - USB charging ports, bathtub, yukata, mini fridge, TV with on-demand streaming of a limited selection of English and Japanese movies. No convenience store but plenty of vending machines selling food, drinks and even alcohol. Room is spacious and the hotel is really near to the airport. The shuttle bus runs frequently and gets you to all the terminals in under 15 mins. Great place to rest if you have an early flight to catch the next day. You'll have to grab your toiletries at the check-in counter though as they're not stocked in the room, which is a minor inconvenience.
We decided to stay here so that we don't have to deal with rail travel in the morning to catch a flight early morning. The location is ideal, but there was no signage that would've guided us from Narita Terminal 1 to the hotel. It took us 10' to figure out how to walk over and across the parking lot and take a left to the property. Based on previous reviews, we knew that it's a bit dated, but we had no idea how truly ridiculous the condition of the room really is. It seems that this 7-8 story hotel was built in the 1950's and the ownership has not made any meaningful investment to upkeep the property ever since which is evident in room doors with chipped and rusted edges, malfunctioned A/C (so room has a $20 electric fan as a concession), windows that cannot be open to air out the hot, stuffy non-A/C room, chairs with heavily stained upholstery, 1980's car stereo mounted in the nightstand, rickety lamp placed on top of a platform with 1990's LAN socket, but there's no internet or Wifi, bathroom with drain that makes loud, gulping noise 30 seconds after turning off water faucets, etc. It feels that the owner/management just simply doesn't care about guests or its own property and just milking whatever it can from this shriveling corpse of a building until it's condemned. This is completely opposite of all the other Japanese lodgings that we stayed in during this trip which, regardless of a large chain hotel or an independent boutique type, exude cleanliness, modernity, efficiency and most of all, pride. We are quite bummed that this is the last place we stayed in Japan before heading home. This place is simply sad.
