J7 is a relatively newer hotel, and I think the staff are still trying to get a hang of it. It’s definitely not a 5-star or even a 4-star hotel. We had A LOT of issues during our three night stay. It started with check-in. We got there exhausted around 11pm and had requested a king sized bed. They gave us a room with two double beds but it turned out that most of the hotel was empty, and they transferred us to a room with a king bed. Also, the fridge wasn’t working (we had to tell the front desk several times over 2 days to get them to fix it). The in-room safe was broken. The only reason we booked this hotel was to use the jacuzzi outside but it was super dirty with leaves. When we asked them to clean it, they looked confused and didn’t clean it the two nights we wanted to use it. We ended up not using it at all because by the time it was cleaned, there were a ton of mosquitos outside. We were also not provided with face towels - I don’t know if that’s standard but there was a sign saying that you would be charged if any face towels were missing so we had to ask the hotel to give us some just so we wouldn’t be charged for them (even though it wasn’t in the room when we checked in). The best part of the hotel is probably the location which is near a lot of sites and across from shopping center with restaurants and cafes.
My wife and I stayed at the J7 Angkor Hotel for a few nights in December. We heard this was one of many new hotels recently built in the more developed areas of Siem Reap, this place seems pretty new. I didn't try all the different amenities but our room seemed nice, clean and spacious. At times there were minor issues (the refrigerator wasn't working, we had trouble with the thermostat) but when we told the staff about it they fixed it right away. This place has a shopping center across the street with a Starbucks on different restaurants. The hotel is within walking distance of the royal palace, downtown areas including the night markets and Pub Street. There were a lot of restaurants and markets also within walking distance. This was a good experience, we'd consider staying here again.
