This was our first time visiting the island so we had very little idea of what to expect from this kind of trip at all! We chose the Holiday Inn so we could use our ihg points and this was the one we could "afford" with points. From the start, the concierge was very helpful getting us a taxi from the airport and the driver was waiting for us with complimentary beer brewed on the island.||Alejandro, at the front desk, greeted us so warmly and the overall customer service throughout our week long stay was truly exceptional in many ways! The bed and room was very comfortable and quiet. We had a beautiful view of the ocean, pier and entire grounds from our deck. ||Driftwood, the bar and grill, was so chill and welcoming. They literally had LIVE music nearly every night with locals coming to perform. Colin, the main bartender, was just a gem in every way! The signature frozen / on the rocks drinks weren't loaded with sugary syrups, included fresh ingredients and all had just the right amount of blends! So fun to try them all throughout our stay! ||The grounds were so well kept and we loved the little tiki torches that they'd light up at night along the pathways. We felt very safe and relaxed!||We initially utilized the shuttle - shout out to Tavita who took such good care of everyone he drove around and with true joy! After a day we learned a little more about where the different snorkeling spots were on the island and decided that the shuttle (although wonderful) wasn't going to cut it for our adventures so we rented a car. Just FYI, the famous 7 mile beach is accessible from the shuttle from 10-5 M-Sat and does take about 12 minutes to get from the east to the west sides of the island. It stops at Fosters (the most amazing grocery store) so we were able to stock our room with some foods to save money during the week. ||The beaches on 7 mile (white sand) are completely different than the beach on the side where the Holiday Inn is (rugged shoreline). Many people probably already know this but we didn't so just thought we'd add that in. ||We will definitely stay here again as we loved the "off the beaten path" aspect of this hotel and were so pleased and impressed!
