Do not stay here! The rooms and hotel haven’t been remodeled since the 1980s and the bathrooms have black mold everywhere. The lights don’t work and the mini-split in our room was taped together. Also, our room smelled like rotten eggs or sewage. We could not stay there and they didn’t give us a refund because we purchased this room on Expedia. They offered to move us to another room but it also had black mold and the lights didn’t work. The hallways were very dirty and they use the blue/white lights which give it an institutional feel. They said that was the nicest room they had LOL. We were so disappointed and had to find another place to stay. The parking assistant, however, was very nice and very apologetic even though it was t his fault that the owners haven’t invested a dime since the 80s. Do not stay here unless you like to live in filth and mold.
We arrived at the hotel after staying one night elsewhere in Guanajuato. Although majestic on the outside, it is very run down and unkept on the inside. We were unable to open our door as the door handle was broken, the staff forgot to give us towels, and overall the maintenance of the hotel should be at a higher standard. We were lucky enough to get a room with a terrace, with a spectacular view, but with only one seat, we must take turns relaxing, lol. When I went to the lobby to get my door handle fixed, another couple said their sheets were dirty, and another lady didn't have a functional hairdryer. The pool area was ok; the solar heater broke down, and it was not fixed, so the water was quite cold. There isn't an ice machine or room service or the ability to take the food to go. The staff was friendly, and we spoke with many of the groundkeepers. Worth the trip once.
