The « surface » is definitely 5-star proof, but the experience is not quite there yet. The hotel is in fact way more beautiful than I expected from the pictures. The interior design is very well executed: good mix of modernism and cosiness (in terms of textures and colors). The entry price rooms are of excellent value, I really appreciated the sense of space and proportions which made me feel very relaxed. Unlimited replenishment of water bottles was pleasant (though normal for a 5-star in europe) The experience was somehow poor for a 5-star. I arrived on the day of my birthday, and nobody bothered wishing me a happy birthday… Such an easy and FREE way to score points with a customer (you have the passports in front of you….). While the staff was polite, the overall were quite passive though the hotel was surprisingly empty during my stay. For instance, nobody will come to you at the pool with towels, or ask if you need anything though they have nothing else to do. Ironically, the cleaning lady on the 2nd floor (kudos to her good vibes) and the valets were the ones that touched me the most! The breakfast buffet is relatively expensive for Mexico in my opinion (380 MX), but at least the variety of food and choice was overwhelmingly pleasant. The thing that stuck through my throat was the addional charges if you wanted an expresso or a latte… Ridiculous and anti-luxe if you ask me. When you charge such an amount for breakfast, please have the courtesy to include REAL COFFEE in your offer. During my last day, a power outage occurred and lasted a bit over one hour. The staff had the courtesy to extend our check out time by two hours. So overall, the reason why I withdraw 2 stars is because of an accumulation of negative details that could very easily be fixed. You could have easily earned a 5 stars rating from me…
