Disappointed- least pleasant stay in Merida ever. |I’ve stayed in several hotels in Merida Centro, but I needed a hotel close to the ADO bus station for an early trip to Cancun airport. I booked at a common site that I always use for European and North American bookings. I messaged the property asking for an half an hour early check or bag drop, and they replied they could do a bag drop. When I arrived a little before 3pm check in, the clerk couldn’t find my reservation, and told me to sit for 10 Minutes. No apology. I showed him my booking.com receipt. Eventually he found it, but his only explanation was that Booking hadn’t delivered it yet (despite the fact that hotel emailed me?! And it was check in time.) I requested a king bed, but that would have been another hour wait. Then the amount charged was about $6.00 more than the total amount, with taxes, that I was told by Booking that I would pay, so the exchange rate was jacked up a lot. My room was okay, but bathroom was stinky, there was a lot of street noise during the day, the mini split is loud, and there was a lot of noise in the hallway. The guy next door was very loud on his phone, and because we had adjoining rooms, all the sound came though. Majority of tv stations are in Spanish, but I watched a movie while I worked just to block sound. Poor value for the cost. The court yard pool area is pretty, but those rooms are more expensive. Didn’t dare eat in the restaurant. Also breakfast and room service don’t start till 7 am, and my bus leaves at 6:45, so I guess it will be an OXXO breakfast for me. It’s unfortunate, because as long as U.S. flights to Mexico are outrageously expensive, I’ll be taking the ADO bus to and from Cancun airport until the train gets going, and this hotel is the closest to the bus station.
