No matter how gorgeous the venue may be, if you feel that you have been received by condescending, demeaning staff, all other defects stick out like a sore thumb. Well, let’s start with the parking. It was full so we parked at the Soriana. After entry into the lobby we stood in line for about 15 minutes while two members of the front desk staff tried to solve the missing cash payment issue of the guest in front of us. After 10 minutes of having not even acknowledge our presence, the front desk clerk assisted another guest who just walked right past us and asked him for change. Once the issue with the guest ahead of us was finally resolved, the clerk acknowledges our presence, and give us our room key (no smile, no friendly greeting, no apologies for the delay). When asked about the parking, he tells us that we can park in the staff parking. When I ask about the Valet, which we had just now seen, then he tells us we can use that as well. Not surprisingly, we are assigned a beautiful room with stained carpet, stained headboard and damaged walls. The bellhop, Carlos, gets 5 stars for being kind, and helpful (he was the highlight of this stay).
