The New Year holiday is typically spent as staycations for me and my family. This year we chose Shangrila-La at The Fort. ||While the pre booking went well, their app for Shangrila circle members were so bad that when we checked in on the 30th, we had to queue for over an hour in spite of the fact that this hotel collected full payment A WEEK BEFORE our arrival. Talk about technology not talking to the manual override. ||But everything was so bad that it made this five star gem look like a cafeteria during breakfast. The lines were long. Being booked at the Horizon Floors didn’t receive preferential treatment. The breakfast on January 1 was mayhem and service was so horrible that I thought I should not have changed my mind and stuck it out with my booking at Ascott right beside Shangri-La. ||The rooms and services which touted to be app friendly and ready, was discombobulated with what the app offered. On a full holiday capacity, the lack in fine details of quality and excellent service of this five star chain definitely showed. Which shouldn’t happen - holiday or ordinary day - customers should be treated the service it paid for and “as advertised” deserved. ||I’m not sure if it’s just The Fort branch that was horrible, but one thing I am sure of, I and my family were disappointed. For the price that we paid for, we felt we were gypped by this hotel chain.||The plus was that the hotel had easy accessibility to the malls and L’Occitane baths and is PWD friendly. ||It could do better. Among the five star hotels we have stayed, I had higher expectations for Shangrila-La. This one was such a disappointment.
