What a beauty this once must have been and how it must be running out of life now. Probably once a palace and a privileged destination when fountain waters were all the hype. Today, the building still stands proud and beautiful, however, all about it feels like it’s run by a state enterprise (the guard at the gate doesn’t fit into his uniform, the sole spring is guarded by a heavy built stern mature lady not to mess with, the pastry at the cafe counter looks like left overs from last weeks party and the receptionists have nothing to do but to give each other messages). Actually, it seems to be in the hands of a brewery.
MAGICAL We arrived after dark; so with the lighting of the streets and the entrance to the Palace our arrival was magical and even though we arrived late into the night we were very well received. The hotel is situated beautifully in the mountains, which doubles down on the idea of relaxing and enjoying God’s creation. The grounds our well manicured with what looks like a top class golf course (I don’t play). The spa whilst a super modern design is brilliantly and subtly connected to the main palace. We had a picnic in the park, which was super romantic (even if I say so myself) with incredible well prepared and presented food. Allllll the staff were super friendly and very helpful. My only criticism is regarding the uniforms. They are badly designed, ill fitting and look like someone found a box of clothes in the basement from the 1970. The staff deserve better. (The Spa staff by comparison looked super smart) Health and wellness ought to be a key theme when visiting here We thank you all and highly RECOMMEND the Vidago Palace Hotel
