Our room was amazing. Breakfast mediocre, e.g. no eggs or salmon. Make sure to order it to the room, much more comfortable that way. Sometimes stuff gets forgotten by the staff (e.g. Picknick basket is missing salad). Fitness center 2⭐ We expected more from a 5⭐ hotel even though nothing was peculiarity bad.

Located in the hills above Funchal this hotel is quite quiet. Hotel has a small gym, tennis court, jacuzzi, sauna, and the grounds themselves are lovely and very well looked after. The pool area again is well attended, with a lovely view overlooking Funchal. It has a small pool bar where drinks and food can be ordered. There is a shuttle bus the hotel runs frequently. The hotel is very clean, with very attentive, excellent staff. It is quite quirky, with plenty of antique pieces with regards to the art and furniture. It does feel like you have stepped into an Agatha Christie novel! A very good, peaceful, quirky hotel, which possibly ever so slightly lets itself down by trying a little bit too hard. The demographic is 50 upwards as there isn't much to do, but if that's what you want with sun, peace and quiet, then this is pretty good.
