Quinta de Cabanas Douro Country House

No words can describe the experience we had at Quinta de Cabanas. There are some extraordinary properties, there are some most scenic views, there are some real fun activities to do and rarely there are some amazing hosts that sort of become your friends by the end of the stay but to have ALL of that together in the same place seems impossible till you stay at the Quinta. ||||Rui and Eliza are the two most wonderful people who have decided to open their house and their hearts to complete strangers and it is difficult to imagine if anyone is not touched by their love, care and humility. ||||They are there but not in your way. The stay itself is most relaxing and comfortable. There is an absolutely brilliant olive oil trip couple of hours away that is worth the day trip. There is a nature walking trail 45min away and a wonderful beach in middle of the jungle after four km walk. There is opportunity for wine tasting - Port wine. Very nearby there is a beach on river Douro where there are plenty of activities for the whole family. We were two adults, a sixteen years old son, twelve years and seven years old daughters. And everyone was thoroughly entertained. If nothing else there are two pools and a pool table when you really don’t want to do anything else. ||||Would love to return!||||PS: We travelled in our car and being remote it is essential you have use of a car to explore surroundings and other activities or you can ask Rui and maybe he’ll arrange something for you.
