My wife and I stayed here for four nights. The hotel, classified as a “Garni”, though I’m not sure what that means, was one street behind the town square and only 5 minutes walk to Banská Bystrica Mesto railway station. The location is good, being close to the Europa Shopping Mall (10 minutes) and the central train and bus stations (15 minutes walk).|The hotel has a nice entrance foyer that adjoins a cafe that is used by hotel guests for their breakfast. Breakfasts were included and there was a good selection catering for many different tastes. |Check-in was quick and efficient and the staff, who spoke reasonable English, compared to zero Slovakian on my part were very helpful.|Our room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and serviced daily. There was room for a lounge and coffee table. There was also plenty of hanging space and places to store our luggage. |The bathroom has a shower over a bathtub. However the shower is a hand held one and is set at midriff height with no shower screen or curtain. You either wash yourself sitting in the bath or try and stand in the bath and hope you don’t spray water all over the floor. There are also no towel racks if you want to dry and reuse your towels.|The room is heated, essential in Slovakia in winter but is not air conditioned. It was very hot (around 27C). We could keep the two windows and balcony door open during the day but at night because it is on a busy street favoured by rev heads for making as much noise with their cars at night as possible we had to keep the windows shut night to get some sleep.|I would still recommend the hotel as the room is comfortable and of a good size, the staff are helpful and breakfasts are very good but if you can, especially in summer, ask for a room that doesn’t face the road.
