My 2 stars doesn't relate to the hotel itself but more so the circumstances and the lack of what management did to fix this issue. My wife and I stayed for a Saturday night in the fall (October), looking for a nice evening getaway. With everything we know about W hotels, they are suppose to be upscale and generally relaxing environment, which is why we chose it for this weekend. We also were very excited about the 24/7 roof deck with pool and jacuzzi and great views. When we first stepped foot through the lobby doors, this would be a scary preview for the entire stay. There were at least 30-40 young kids that had completely taken over the lobby and 2nd floor restaurant/bar area. These kids were running around, screaming, and parents were just wandering around not caring about the absolute circus their kids were creating. It only got worse from here. After settling in, we went up to the pool deck hoping we could find some peace and quiet... it was far worse than the inside of the hotel. Literally over 30 kids had taken over the pool and jacuzzi, doing cannonballs, throwing things, and constant screaming at top of their lungs. The parents made a barricade of chairs blocking anyone from getting by to the other areas of the deck and acted annoyed when we asked if they would let us pass through. They were acting as if them and their 30+ kids owned the hotel. They ordered 10 pizzas up to the roof and forced hotel staff to assist them in getting set up for this. We immediately went back down to our room. This was at about 3pm. We went back up 4 more times throughout the afternoon and evening (up until 9pm) and it was the same chaotic scene every single time. So much for a peaceful soak in the jacuzzi taking in the views. We eventually went back up at 11pm thinking the kids MUST be asleep by then. When we got to the top it was empty except for one other couple that informed us the jacuzzi was out of order and couldn't be used (almost assuredly due to damage done by the 30+ insane kids throughout the day). The next morning we got breakfast on the 2nd floor restaurant but had the joy of screaming kids in the lobby and outside restaurant area for the whole meal. We went back up to the roof for one more attempt at peace and quiet but sure enough 20 screaming kids had taken over the pool again. It's a shame because the hotel and room were nice, and the roof deck would have been nice, but the entire stay was completely ruined by the 50+ out of control kids. We later found out there was a soccer tournament in town that weekend and they all booked this hotel. I wish the hotel management would have informed us of this when booking (we certainly would have picked a different place) and wish they did more to control the kids completely taking over all amenities and common areas of the hotel. They did refund us our $50 resort fee but that absolutely does not make up for the very expensive cost of the room and our overall weekend being ruined. Will never stay at a W again out of principle. Beware of the phony pictures and descriptions on the website.
