This place is amazing. I'm here for a conference, but wasn't able to get a room. Huge conference center. Food service was terrific. Restaurants are more affordable than I expected. Love the sports bar. Lots of open space and a ton of screens, including an absurdly large middle screen. Kids are allowed. Great outdoor pool area with another good restaurant and bar. Putting course, hoops, and tennis. Beach bikes available and paved trails nearby. The gym is huge and has a ton of equipment, including dumbbells up to 70s and a Smith rack! Downsides: Waterside and indoor pool are closed. For the price of the rooms, I think that's a problem. There is a lot of construction on-site, but it wasn't loud and didn't seem to interfere. The place is so big that it's pretty confusing getting around at first. That could be a problem for people only staying one night. Tip: I checked prices for a possible future stay (maybe when the slide is up and running). BE FLEXIBLE WITH YOUR DATES!! I looked at a two day stay anytime. Prices ranges from <$600 to >$2100!!!
This place has a lot good and a lot not so much, for the price I was not super impressed with several aspects. Like our room had a fridge but it never ran and was lukewarm inside, we discovered that when we opened the fridge in the morning and you could smell spoiled mayo and turkey from our leftover sandwich from the night before. Room service only brought part of our order then we had to wait another 40 minutes to get the rest of our food with not even a sorry for the issue. The food is extremely over priced at the quick service restaurants, a personal frozen style pizza is $15 and we even got one that was not cooked. The snowflake pick up was closed when I tried to get a cooked pizza (we went back to our room to eat), so of son was out of luck for a warm dinner. It could have been ok if there was a microwave in the room but there is not. The pullout couch in the room is also extremely uncomfortable and I would not recommend it for sleeping. Parking is outrageously expensive for a place not in a city, this is outside of Denver not in the city. The good of the place is it is beautiful for Christmas! The holiday activities were nice but it would be nice to be able to just charge everything to your room instead of being able to do it in some businesses but not others. The gym was amazing but I was shocked there was no rowing machine. The pool was great! I love that they have an adults only hot tub but the signage is not on the door going out to it so kids were in and out of the adults only hot tub a lot ruining the experience. There should be a sign on the door going out that the area is for 18+. The best time to be in a hot tub is during or after snow but for some reason the outdoor hot tubs were closed, they said there was ice but we saw none around the adult hot tub. It would be nice if they could atleast open that for adults that do not want splashing and screaming kids around them! Our city rec center can have the outdoor hot tub open at 5:30 am even with snow and ice but for some reason it can not be done here. All and all this was a nice trip but I expected more for the price tag! If the cost was half of what we paid it would have been 5 stars and easy to forgive the issues. This Gaylord definitely does not hold up to the others I have visited in DC and Nashville.
