My partner and I celebrated our anniversary this weekend and decided to stay at the Ritz Carlton Chicago. It was our first time here in Chicago and our experience at the hotel ended up being the highlight of our entire trip. THE HOTEL The hotel is in a great location, very close to main attractions. The hotel lobby had a luxurious and sophisticated design, as well as holiday decor. The decor around the entire hotel was perfect to take any photos, especially the beautiful Christmas tree by the entrance. We did not need to use their parking; however, we used Uber to the places we wanted to visit, and all were short rides, very convenient. THE CLUB LOUNGE We decided to indulge in the Ritz-Carlton experience with Club Lounge. The lounge features five continuous food & beverage offerings throughout the day. This was our first time and overall enjoyed it and believe it was well worth our experience. We ate there for breakfast and the food was fresh and good. We also joined later in the evening for some drinks and dessert, which was nice because there was a relaxing atmosphere. It truly hands off a heightened level of luxury and exclusivity. THE STAFF The entire staff was friendly and were very welcoming. They ensured our stay was stress free and accommodated any requests we had. However, I want to give a special thanks to Jeremy for making our entire stay such a memorable experience. We arrived earlier than expected so our room was not ready, so we decided to enjoy breakfast at the club lounge. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jeremy, and he let us know he would let us know when our room was ready. He later stopped by and to check in with us and let us know that our room was ready, and he had provided us an upgraded room to celebrate our anniversary, which was so thoughtful. The room was incredible, the views throughout the entire room were phenomenal and could not be beaten. We got to see fireworks over the pier from the comfort of our room, as well as the city lit up and all was such stunning views. Jeremy, thank you for such an amazing experience. OVERALL EXPERIENCE The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown Chicago. I definitely plan to stay at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago again whenever in town. This was a definite winner for us!!!

For a cheaper hotel, this experience would’ve been fine. For a five star more expensive hotel that is supposed to be top-of-the-line, this was not worth it. I would not ever stay here again. This was such a disappointing experience. I’ve had better stays at Renaissance properties. I am a Titanium Elite Bonvoy member and have stayed at other Ritz properties before. This building is truly sub par. I hated having to walk in to the entrance of the building that looked like a small office building to take an elevator to the lobby and then get out, walk around and take a second elevator to my room. How is this a 5 star experience? Very plain decor in general. Watch out for conventions. We had one there while we stayed and I’m pretty sure that’s why we had very minimal attention when we checked in. The staff was too busy with the convention to notice other guests The check-in process was very basic. Tiny lobby. The staff confirmed that there is no welcome gift for any Marriott Bonvoy status whatsoever. No discount on food. No discount on spa services. No executive center. Apparently they had this in the past and decided to take it away. They did not even let us know what amenities were available on site. They just provided our room key and told us how to get to the elevator. It wasn’t till the next day that we even found out there was a coffee bar in the back of the lobby. The one nice thing they did was give us popcorn in the lobby at 5 PM. The rooms were very gray, but they were clean. However, the windows were very dirty, even though they tell you that they clean them every day.
