I was very disappointed by my recent stay at the Marriott Tech Center upon receiving my customer bill. At the beginning of my stay there was an instance where I had to come down to the front desk from many floors up to have my door card re-keyed (4) times. This was not including the mobile pass attempt. After the last time I came down, I was frustrated and expressed that with the staff-- to which they replied that the door battery was dead and they would need to send security up to fix it. I went back up to my room and waited for 30 minutes, to which I then used the phone next the to elevator to call down and ask what the update was. After a long work day, I wasn't expecting to spend 45 minutes going back and forth to rekey my card, and then 30 minutes standing outside my door waiting for security. After the phone call security showed up within five minutes. I was very appreciative and went about the rest of my night. Upon leaving the hotel I did apologize to the front desk for expressing my frustration, and that it was nothing to do with them-- as I feel I was a little overwhelmed and that's usually not how I carry myself, I thought it was best to address it and move forward-- which we did and our interactions after the fact were positive. :) After going out and coming back, I placed my privacy please on the door. Within 30 minutes I had staff come to my door to drop off utensils, to which I did not ask for, cleaning supplies, and then somebody came to ask about my lock. I opened the door for the third time to the person who came to ask about my lock, to which she replied just making sure it was all setup. I said yes thank you, and kept it short because I wanted to relax after the stressful day. Not until after checking out AND being in my home state, did I come to find a charge for a $250.00 in-room smoking fee. I called Marriott immediately to clear this up as I did NOT smoke in my hotel room, nor would I ever. Also, why did nobody speak to me about this if it was reported the night they came to check on my lock, by someone who did NOT enter my room. I would never smoke in a hotel room, nor bring anything smoking related in my room. When I called to clear this up they said they would not remove this charge because I was rude to the front desk, to which i replied that i expressed frustration and that we cleared it up within the hour as I was leaving. They also stated that because of the conversation I had with the person checking my lock after the fact of it being replaced (by someone who was actually in my room, who would be able to tell if there was a smoke smell to which was not reported) they decided to site me with a smoking fee? I'm currently waiting on a call from the direct person who reported this, as I can't fathom why this would even occur. After doing research, it seems to be a common thing that people have dealt with in regards to Marriott. I've seen many cases of people who do not smoke period, and that were later charged for smoking fees in their rooms. The fee or citation was never once was addressed during the duration of their stay, however found out after the final billing receipt. I would not recommend this hotel unless you want random, unjustified fees, uncooperative customer service, and a potential hike up and down the stairs if your key card was pinned incorrectly after a long day of work.
Clean, large rooms and the service was great. Very friendly and responsive. The restaurant / bar was convenient, good drinks & food, and the service there was excellent. Breakfast would have definitely been a plus to have especially for the checkout/travel day. But there is a Starbucks relatively close by that opens at 5/5:30am if you're in need for coffee. Since the waters provided were $5 per we didn't use that or the in-room coffee maker. Having a room with a view of the mountains or generally outdoor view, is recommended. That being said, would definitely stay here again!
