A great location for a large wedding, conference, meetings or just to stop in for the live jazz, I enjoyed the 4 nights spent there for work and everyone was helpful and friendly. There's an entrance from the parking garage (valet), or from Bourbon street. The taxi drivers seem to know when it's better to use which entrance, whereas the Uber driver may not. The front end staff were very friendly and helpful, and gave recommendations with a smile. The bell hop/concierge guys were fantastic, and very friendly and helpful as well. I hope to return with family in the future.
During my five-night stay at The Royal Sonesta New Orleans on Bourbon Street, I had a mixed experience. When we first checked in, our room had a less-than-desirable view, but thanks to the considerate lady at the front desk, we were moved to a better room away from the noisy street—a definite plus. However, our stay had its share of unexpected interruptions. On the third night, we were rudely awakened by a fire alarm, forcing us to evacuate the building due to someone smoking in one of the rooms. This happened again at 2 am, without any apologies or explanations. Despite these setbacks, one of the best aspects of the hotel was its convenient location. It was within walking distance of numerous attractions, and being on Bourbon Street meant there were plenty of places to visit and explore. This proximity to the heart of the action certainly added value to our stay, even though the overall experience had its ups and downs.
