Overall, our experience was pleasant. For the good: Views to the Alamo were great, bar was full size, restaurant food was decent, staff was very nice and helpful, Valet was on time and pleasant and lastly upon our check in I was immediately contacted via text insuring my wife and I were good to go (Lee, Angelica). For the not so good: For such a nice hotel in a prime location, it was a bit outdated. The hotel has a back to the past vibe / feel, so if you are looking for modern and pleasing to the eyes this is not it. Lobby was very small, tubs were old and ugly, paint chipping for the ceilings, carpet design outdated, and the thermostats looked like they were installed in the 70’s and did not work very well, we absolutely froze our first night here. Decent hotel for a Hilton, again the staff were great but not our favorite Double Tree. The staff made it a 4 star, I would have given it a 3 star based on appearances alone and the insane $50 a night for valet parking (online mentioned no self parking). Lastly, there was an older cleaning lady, she was a jewel. Super nice and attentive. Special thanks to her.

Something that could really make this place better are remodeling the doors close to the check in area. They are extremely hard to get around with a baby stroller, so could just imagine how hard it would be with a wheelchair as well. Our baby stroller didn't fit with only one door open, so we had to open both doors and struggled to keep them open. Other than that, hotel and service was great!
