AC Hotel St. Petersburg Downtown

Great location - if they don’t give your room away. We had a 2 night stay for my husband’s work conference. We were getting in late the first night so we called to make sure there wouldn’t be an issue with our room. The woman looked up our reservation and said it would be fine. Fast forward to arriving and they say we don’t have a reservation until the next night. I explain I called on the way down and they never mentioned. He insists our 2 nights start the next night. My husband comes in from valet and pulls up the confirmation email and sure enough our reservation started on the night we were arriving. (Strike 1 for being lied to). Then they explain that they’re sold out and don’t have a room for us. Strike 2 because we called and were assured there was a room for us. After HOURS of traveling, arriving around midnight, we have to stand around in the lobby for another hour while they contact managers and try to find another hotel for us to sleep in. They wound up finding us a room at a Hampton Inn and Suites close by. Now I will say the service at that Hampton Inn was better, the breakfast was better, and the hotel was cleaner. But a Hampton Inn and Suites is NOT comparable, in price or style, to this hotel. We were given complimentary breakfast to make up for the experience. The breakfast wasn’t great, I would have rather gone to one of the amazing restaurants nearby. We’re looking to go back to St. Pete for my birthday and I love the location (I dream of the chicken sandwich I had down the street) but I can’t imagine risking paying so much for a room KNOWING that in the past we got booted to a Hampton Inn without any refund or credit.
