The staff was generally nice, but unresponsive to a maintenance request. The toilet was unable to flush in my room because the flapper valve was filthy and wouldn’t seal, causing the tank to drain and water to run continuously. I ended up fixing that myself by cleaning the flapper and seat to enable a seal, so that problem was solved. The four inoperative light bulbs in the room stayed that way; they never responded to the request to replace them. In general, it’s a nice facility that has become run down by lack of maintenance and cleaning. Here are some observations: The elevator was severely marked up with bumps and scratches with no attempt to clean or refinish the interior. Similarly, so was the room. The closet door wouldn’t open fully because of interference with the door closer on the entrance door. The walls were marked up and had holes in them from hardware interference (door handles), months or years of dust was accumulated on hardware in the kitchen. The mold photo is from another crew member’s room a week prior, not my room. The manager stated that the mold had been remediated from that room, and that it had accumulated quickly, but I ask you to consider how quickly THAT much mold might have accumulated without staff intervening. The window to the street had significant overspray from however long ago they painted, which was obvious and never removed (a two-minute job, maybe, with a scraper blade). Trim was peeling from the baseboards, and wallpaper was peeling from the wall. The trash can lid evidently made marks on the wall that they didn’t clean, and housekeeping didn’t even bother to put the trash bag in the can, but only laid it over the edge of the can. It all points to a substandard level of care of the mechanical and cleanliness condition of the property, but if you can overlook that, you can get a good nights sleep and stay out of the cold and rain. I actually slept quite well after the frustration wore off.
