Crowne Plaza Syracuse, an IHG Hotel

This was the worst experience I've ever had at an IHG hotel. When we arrived to checkin there was no one at the front desk. We waited about 10min, along with other patrons, and finally called the front desk from our cell phone to get someone's attention. When the employee came to the desk, he was obviously flustered about being short staffed as he had to step away from the desk to help another patron. He was friendly and checked us in quickly at that point. When we got to our room, there was residue on the desk and nightstand that looked like something had spilled and dried and no one had bothered to clean it (making me think nothing in the room had really been cleaned). I used the only hand towel in the room to wipe down all the surfaces. I noticed there was only one bath towel even though the reservation was for 2 adults. I called down and requested a second bath towel and a hand towel, to be told they only had clean bath towels since everything else was dirty, and would have one sent up. We waited an hour and when no one showed up I went to the desk, thinking that would be helpful since I knew the hotel was short staffed and busy. The person at the desk was rude and told me he could not give me a towel as housekeeping had just taken them upstairs and I must have missed him on the elevator. I went back to my room and waited another hour. By 10pm we still had no towel and were exhausted waiting to go to bed, so I called the front desk. Liam answered, apologized, and asked me to come down to the desk to get it. I did, but was frustrated that the person at the desk at 9pm couldn't have done the same thing. Liam was polite, though. When I went back up to bed I noticed the sheets were stained. I was exhausted, so I slept on top of the blanket rather than wait several more hours for service. I have never stayed in an IHG hotel that felt as unclean as this one, and with such terrible service. Liam, and the view from the room, were the only bright spots.
