Stunning location overlooking Cape Town city bowl and V&A Waterfront. Beautiful decor, mixing old worls charm with modern touches. Servers friendly, albeit "slow" on a quite day. Food of an above average quality, yet not exceptional. Pricing on the high end given the simplicity of some of the meals and sides mostly being extra. No liquir license. BYO allowed. Assuming no corkage will apply if no liquor license. PS: So goes on 1st Impression. Arrived and asked if there is a restaurant on site, "Yes, but a booking is required." After an akward silence I asked if there is an available table, "Let me check." We were offered a table in a near empty facility...go figure. The sign on the front porch floor "check your privilege" was quite ironic given the cokd reception.
This is a home away from home, with luxury and a sense of 'you are worth it' - every corner of the establishment has something unique and special. The detail is soft, sublime and subtle. It's honestly an oasis and haven and I'm almost tempted not to leave a review as I don't want it to become too well known. It's just perfect. If you love character with style and a sprinkling of gold dust, a sense of a by-gone era with modern amenities and a feeling that everything 'fits' although nothing is prescriptive nor has a definitive shape - this is the hotel for you.
